Financial Professionals for Social Responsibility
A community for financial professionals who believe the industry has a critical role to play in steering the world toward a livable future — and are ready to act on it.
Learn MoreOur Mission
Large banks and insurance companies are playing an enormous role in financing and underwriting new fossil fuel infrastructure — at the very moment when the United Nations and the scientific community are calling for an immediate halt to such projects.
Many financial professionals are troubled by this. They see the contradiction between their institution's actions and the world they want to leave for their children and grandchildren. But speaking up alone feels risky, isolating, and ineffective.
Financial Professionals for Social Responsibility exists to change that. We provide a shared identity, a supportive community, and a forum for financial professionals to discuss, coordinate, and act — from the inside.
So are we. And you don't have to navigate this alone.
Why It Matters
Without financing and insurance, fossil fuel projects don't get built. That gives financial professionals a level of influence over climate outcomes that few other industries can match.
Financed by the world's 60 largest banks in fossil fuels since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2016.
The warming threshold scientists say we must not cross — and which requires stopping new fossil fuel infrastructure now.
Change driven by people within institutions has historically been among the most effective forces for corporate course-correction.
If you work in finance and you're reading this, you already have more influence than you might think.
Who We Are
FPSR welcomes financial professionals across the industry who share a concern about climate and a commitment to responsible practice. That includes:
You don't need to be a climate expert. You need only be a financial professional who cares about the future — and is ready to connect with others who feel the same way.
Get Involved
FPSR is in its founding stage, and this is a rare moment: the people who get involved now will help shape what this organization becomes. Whether you want to participate, contribute your skills, or simply learn more — we want to hear from you.
